Introducing Evelyn!

I like to give a little story about why I choose our Ambassadors. It's never about follower numbers but about the people, their stories, our connections and their style.

I had the pleasure of officially meeting Evelyn at Soflo Miami in 2023. She brought her adorable family and as a creator, it's always so awesome to meet people who follow you and you have chatted with online.

I instantly loved Evelyn's vibe. She has a wonderful feeling about her and you are drawn into her smile and genuine conversation.

Fast forward to 2024 and a few more chats in between, I was heading back to Soflo for another year and needed a bit more help and the first person that popped into my head to reach out to was Evelyn.

It was a big ask, not only to help me with my workshops as an assistant but also to do demos on the Sweetlife Cake Shop stand while I was working upstairs.

Bare in mine, Evelyn hadn't demo'd before but I felt that she had it in her and more and just needed a gentle shove in that direction.

And boy oh boy was she up for the challenge! She grabbed it with both hands and was freaking awesome!

Evelyn brought her husband the gig and can I say, what a top bloke! This man was setting up and styling my range, selling his tushy off, tending to Evelyn, who he clearly treats like a queen (I loved this about him) and when he wasn't hustling, he was running around making sure we were fed and watered... that's a keeper right there!

Evelyn's cake style continues to develop and with each post I am more and more blown away. I feel she has a bright future and I am honoured she said yes to joining us, helping me and I can call her a friend.

So without further a do.... here is Evelyn's interview, your chance to get to know this wonderful soul!

More Interview!

Tell us a little about you? Something you’ve never told anyone!

My name is Evelyn Suarez, I’m wife and mom of two amazing kiddos. My daughter Annalyah just turned 9 and my son Hank is Turing 5 in a couple of days.  I’m self a taught cake artist and designer. I can definitely say my style of caking is more on the  glamorous and luxurious, everything glitter and sparkles. I absolutely love and enjoy creating wedding cakes.

OK! Something I haven’t told anyone is lol a good glass of wine always gets  me in the mood 🙈😅 oh and I sleep naked ☺️🙈😅 (Comment from Monica - and this is why we are friends hahah)

Career Journey

How did you first get started in the caking/baking industry?

I have always enjoyed cooking and baking since I was a little girl! I remember as a kid I would watch cooking and baking shows all the time. As the years passed cooking and baking was just always a part of me, specially during the holidays.  One Christmas morning I received a kitchen aid mixer and of course I started baking new recipes right away and haven’t stopped since.

When did you begin your adventure in the caking and baking industry?

My adventure in the caking and baking industry really began when I became a mom for the first time. Unfortunately my daughter was born with lots of food allergies specifically peanuts and tree nuts. To ensure the safety of my baby girl I started baking and decorating all of her birthday cakes and treats.   Eventually family and friends started making their requests and soon after rumors spread throughout town and here we are! Bigger and better every day!

Are you a buttercream babe or a fondant Floozy?

Ok this is tough to answer I enjoy both but probably more of a buttercream babe, there’s just something so satisfying while icing a cake or just piping away in my little zone.

If you could start again, what would you change?

If I could start again I would only focus on bespoke wedding cakes, luxurious styles and not accept orders that aren’t really  my style; and simply refer the client  to a colleague.

 Brand Affiliation

How did you come to be involved with the Moreish brand?

I became involved with the Moreish Brand soon after I officially had opened my business instagram account.  Monica’s work has always been so inspiring to me.  In 2021 if I remember correctly I entered a international giveaway that Monica ran.  The giveaway included a few of her products, The More strawberry Spirit And  More ProBrush #1!  I couldn’t believe that I was the winner!!  And of course the excitement to start creating when I received the products was just so surreal.. I’ve been hooked on the More brand ever since.

Do you remember how you came to be an ambassador?

Throughout the years, as a cake artist and designer,  I’ve developed an obsession for bespoke cakery, with high expectations and flawless finishings with every cake I create.  Utilizing outstanding and innovative tools to help enhance my unique creations, has always been very important to me.  In addition to maximizing the full potential of the tools and products utilized, showcasing both my creations alongside the products and developers.

Do you have a story to tell?

Yes! The best story ever!!!  Imagine actually meeting your mentor, The artist you’ve admired and inspires you? Well dreams do come true!! Last year at Soflo Candy Expo in Miami I meet Monica Cavallaro in person for the first time! Yes! That’s right. It was the most amazing experience, I attended her wafer paper rose class and the best part was being able to bond and connect with her.  (oh stop it girlfriend, you are making me cry!!)

This year at Soflo 2024  another dream came true, I was able to demo and showcase her amazing products.

What is your favorite product from our brand and why?

This is a hard question because I absolutely love the entire More collection.  But my top products are, The More cuppies liners. These liners are so pretty and unique, just amazing! These are grease proof and won’t peal away from the cupcakes.   The Gold Flaster is outstanding!! I literally use it almost everyday. It adds an extra touch of glam and beautiful sparkles elevating your creations.  and of course The More Palette Knives collection.  I’m obsessed with textures.  These are my go-to palette knives for creating unique and beautiful textures along with creating gorgeous buttercream flowers by knives. “Buttercream painting”.

If you had to recommend 3 products from our range, which would you tell newbies to buy and why?

I highly recommend the More cuppies liners, specifically for newbies. I wish these were available when I was starting out and saved me from all those headaches from bad, cheap liners that pulled away from the cupcakes and left you with greasy fingers after eating a cupcake.

I would also recommend the Reusable Baking Tin Liners. Every baker needs these in their kitchen! These liners will save you time and money. Allowing you to bake a full cake in one pan with perfect even bake every time.

Lastly, I highly recommend The More Metallic Edible Markers Set. These markers will save you time and stress when decorating fondant and buttercream cakes/cookies/toppers/macarons.

Can you describe a memorable experience you've had while representing our brand or an opportunity that has come your way because of it?

A memorable experience while representing Moreish cakes products was this year at Soflo expo. I had the opportunity and pleasure of meeting and connecting with new talented bakers and artists like Lena McKechnie from Savycakes, Mark from cookie cutters, Alex from savemesomesweets, Bridget from a sprinkle on top and Jess from littlebiskut. We had so much fun demoing alongside one another, just incredible. (All our fav people too!)

 Personal Insights

How do you stay updated with trends and changes in the caking and baking industry?

Definitely social media plays a huge role in keeping everyone/bakers/artist on top of the latest trends and changes.  I personally don’t jump on to every trend specifically if it’s not my style. To me it’s important to stay authentic and unique.

What your fav trend to date?

My favorite trend has to be the lambeth/vintage heart cakes.

What trend would you like to see end and why?

The trend that I would like to see end would be the burn away cake. I don’t like the concept of it, in addition to eating a cake after part of it has been burned.

Do you cake/Bake/content create full time or have a supplement job elsewhere?

Yes, aside from cakery I am also a Preschool teacher.

What is your ultimate goal in this industry?

My ultimate goal in this industry is to build my brand, my cakery business to its fullest potential while helping and inspiring other upcoming bakers/cakers/creators and entrepreneurs.

Which other cakers/bakers/creators do you look to for inspo?

I have always been inspired by these amazing artists that I got to meet in person this year at Soflo.  Yolanda Gammp, Liz Marek from sugar geeks show, Camilo from by.aletoso, and of course Monica Callavaro. (All such amazing talents! Am honoured to be named with them. We are super huge Camillo fans here too)

Lena McKechnie from Savycakes, Alex from savemesomesweets, Bridget from a sprinkle on top and Jess from littlebiskut and Australiancakedecoratingnet.

In addition to Tanaporn Vilailaks from Butter Blossoms, Porsha Kimble, Cassie Watene from Cas’Cakery, Chelsey White from Chelsweets, Maria Racovalis | Cupcake Bouquets, Chemily's Cakes, Emily-Kate, CAKE by Casey Lee, Javier Azocar from Lumas Cakes, Natalie's Cakes, Katelyn nataliescakescreations.

If you could have dinner with your caking hero, who would it be and why?

I am such a lucky gal!!! This dream has already come true!

I had dinner with Monica along with the rest of the Aussie  crew After our first demo day at Soflo cake and Candy expo. We had such an amazing time getting to know each other. We eat and shared delicious food, drinks and desserts. One of my most memorable evening and life memories. (Oh gush, stop! ok, more more more hahahah)

Final Thoughts

Do you have any advice for aspiring Moreish Brand Ambassadors?

My advice to aspiring Brand Ambassadors is to focus on a style of caking that you truly enjoy creating, this will promote  natural growth while perfecting skills. I have found that when I enjoy and love the work I am doing it doesn’t feel like work. I am able to be myself and most importantly have fun! keep going! Dream big! Show up for yourself!!!

Now you know why we love Evelyn so much!
