Think tropical, think fun, thing different, think non traditional!
The brief was easy, tropical, white, silver… can I use some green? “Sure!”
This cake had to travel up the north coast of NSW so it had to be stable, fondant (as no fridge trucks) and firm to withstand the flower trucks and the boys driving hahahah
To be honest, looking back, I preferred the cake simple and not decorated. I usually like cakes well embellished but when you see the pics below of the cake on my bench before decorating commenced, you might agree with me.
For anyone who isn’t aware, these weddings are weddings, the cakes are all real - no styro, they are all edible! And the pressure to create all different looking cakes in a week is a bit stressful - 4 years in and I can honestly say though, this was my most relaxed year yet.
Even the meeting with the crew was easy going, in and out in a hour, for 6 wedding cakes - the last 2 weddings were briefed in via sms or a quick call a couple of days out.
I created my own stencils for this cake and sponged on the leaf patterns to create a bit of interest and texture.
