This beautiful wedding was held at the Historical Vaucluse House . This is the second wedding cake we have done for the MAFS franchise at this location - the first was 2 seasons ago for Tracey and Dean’s wedding in series 5.
As it was a local wedding, we could do a buttercream cake - ironically, on the day of delivery, it was hot… really hot so once again I was in a bit of panic to deliver. You see the cake was no only all buttercream, but it was the delicately soft, italian meringue buttercream and so were all the flowers!
I kept this cake a little smaller, with only 2 tiers this time as the reception room for The Vaucluse house is smaller than most of the larger venues and it’s very old world charm, so an OTT cake would not so.
With a rustic stone finish to the buttercream surface, stenciling and my now signature 3D Palette Knife Buttercream flower in an early palette, this cake was elegant and really befitting the surroundings.
I finished the buttercream flowers off with wafer paper details, edible beads and sprays of edible gold dust.
Sitting on a Rose gold stand… pretty as a picture!
So much so, this cake is now a cake class - launched today with Cake Decorating Central for Sydney and Melbourne only at this stage. Want to know more? Click here for Sydney and here for Melbourne.
If you are an over seas cake maker and want to do the class also, please contact me, or ask your local cake decorating store to consider hosting me for classes - I bring with me a host of classes to share and I promise, they are always a lot of fun!.
And as always a video says so much more!

For anyone who hasn’t been on my site before, I have the basic recipes already on the site for you to try at home.
Just a little side note on this blog - it’s a personal thing. Anyone who watches the show would have seen the bride Vanessa (an most of the others to be honest) full of self doubt, not only about what they were doing but more importantly, about their looks and appearance. It broke my heart to hear Vanessa speak about herself. So much so, i had to message privately to say my support.
My husband who was watching the show with me and is very very picky when it comes to woman, said as Vanessa was going on about her appearance, “So what, so she has a couple of zits?!?! Who cares, she gorgeous, i would be happy if I were Chris and she walked down the aisle”.
Now I realise, it doesn’t mean much as a compliment, but from a woman who has been married to this man for nearly 25 years knows full well, he doesn’t compliment often, it meant something.
I wish Vanessa would see herself now through others eyes, but the reason I am typing this to anyone who has taken the time to read this, and is having a flat day or has a bit of self doubt, take a moment to see yourself through the eyes of others…. because we are all loved, we all have awesome attributes and there is no such thing as bloody perfect!!!!
Progress shots? Yes thanks!
