Matthew and Lauren’s wedding had us gushing at the tv for the entire hour…. she is gorgeous and very empathetic and he is a very special young man - we hold very high hopes for them too this series!! Fingers and toes crossed here…. so now onto cake!!
Let me start by reminding the world… I am a baker… who happens to make cakes… so when I get an opportunity to combine both skills in an obvious way, I am a pig in mud! Love love love to combine the looks into 1 sensational bake!
This was a fabulous brief, Pampas grass, gold and greenery
There was no Inspiration with this one either. Whimsical and different was the only conversation had.
This was one of the 4 cakes that travelled to Queensland for the wedding – so this gorgeous baby, delicate as it was had to travel all the way up to the Gold Coast – with anti-humidy pouches all around it… and lots of praying….
So what was in this fluffy tower of gorgeousness? Yes the links will either take you to the recipes, which I have typed up for everyone or to the supplier where I order from…
7” - Dark chocolate fudge cake with Dark Rum syrup, Vizyon Bitter Chocolate Truffle and dark chocolate ganahce
9” - Chocolate and Vanilla Marble cake with dark brown sugar syrup, salted caramel sauce, salted caramel crisps with caramel ganache (OMG!!)
The meringues, omg these are crunch, melt in your mouth Moreish Italian Meringues, and you can make them too! And now you know why this cake is called “Moreish Italian Kisses”!
The meringues were randomly wrapped in edible Over the Top gold leaf and attached with royal icing (recipe also on the website, click here).
Whimsical giant fantasy flowers in wafer paper and edible gold gave the cake it’s final flourish. I love this cake for the fact it was so different – clearly a wedding cake, but fun and fantasy at the same time!
