Big, blousy, ruffled and absolutely worth the fuss.
Peonies are not shy flowers, and your sugar peonies shouldn't be either.
The More Veiners Peony Petal Veiner is designed to give your petals that gorgeous, natural peony texture, with sweeping veins and subtle shaping that help turn ordinary flower paste into beautifully dimensional petals.
Press your paste into the veiner, release it, and suddenly your petal has structure, movement and detail without you having to sit there hand-scribing every vein. Exactly what we like.
What's included?
2-piece silicone veiner mould set
The two mould pieces work together to impress the detailed veining into your petal, giving you a beautifully consistent result across your flower. The supplier lists the set as 2 silicone moulds.
Measurements
Each veiner is approximately:
6.5cm × 6.5cm × 1.5cm
The supplier's specification also lists the mould weight at approximately 83g.
What is it made from?
Food-grade silicone
The mould is flexible, durable and designed for repeated use. The silicone construction makes it easy to press your flower paste into the detailed texture and remove it without wrestling your carefully shaped petal out of the mould. It is also washable and reusable.
The manufacturer's listed operating temperature range is approximately -40°C to 230°C.
What can you use it with?
Perfect for:
Flower paste
Gum paste
Fondant / sugarpaste
Modelling paste
Wafer Paper
Other suitable modelling materials
The supplier also lists water-paper flower art among its applications.
Why you'll love it
Because a peony without texture is just a blob with ambition.
The magic of a realistic peony is in those gorgeous flowing lines and the way each petal catches the light. This veiner gives you that texture quickly and consistently, so you can concentrate on shaping your petals rather than painstakingly adding every little detail by hand.
Use it to create layers of textured petals, then gently soften and shape them to build that wonderfully full, slightly unruly peony look.
And don't make every petal identical. Give some more curl, some more movement and some a slightly different angle. That's what makes a handmade sugar flower look believable rather than manufactured.
Monica's Tip
Press your paste firmly enough to capture the detail, but don't go completely feral with it.
Once you've veined the petal, soften the edges and give it some movement before drying. A little variation between petals will make your finished peony look far more natural.
More texture. More movement. More beautiful flowers.
Welcome to More Veiners.
